Westergas has been a household name in Amsterdam for years. In 2018, the Westergasfabriek buildings were renamed Westergas. The same place, with new energy: Amsterdam’s Cultural Village. The seventeen historic buildings were each given a new purpose and are now home to creative businesses, events and festivals. Three of the seventeen listed buildings are leased out as event venues: De Wester, the Gashouder and the Meterhuisje. These venues host a wide range of both commercial and cultural events.
At Westergas, you don’t just rent a venue. You also get access to our experienced team. Together, we determine which services will make your event a success, from rental to production.
Westergas as a partner
Looking for a partner in crime? Our team has many years of international experience in the event industry and is ready to help create a great event together. We can act as a production company, support your marketing and communication, provide catering or offer technical assistance. We are happy to hear your wishes and create a tailored proposal.
Dry-hire
We can also deliver the venue as a shell. You receive the keys and are free to realise your own vision.
Production
It is advisable to entrust the coordination and production of your event to a single party. Our operations department supports location-related matters such as communication, permits, transport, and facilities. This gives you more time to focus on the content.
Technology
Our factory buildings are monuments with a rich industrial history. How do you ensure that technology does not detract from the unique character of these locations but instead enhances the power of the spaces? This requires expertise, creativity, and an eye for detail.
That is why we work with JUR, a full-service technical production company that designs and executes audiovisual productions that go beyond the standard. With expertise in concept development, design, production, post-production, and a warehouse full of high-quality equipment, they bring technology and creativity together.
JUR has successfully carried out numerous projects at Westergas. Known for their quality, innovation, and precision, they bring events to life, anticipate challenges, and ensure flawless execution. With projects for clients such as Hunkemöller, AVROTROS, and Awakenings, JUR has proven its ability to elevate any event to the next level.
De Wester
We collaborate with four caterers, each with their own unique style but always in line with the philosophy of Westergas. We are happy to advise you, but you can also make your own choice.
Event Culinair
A speciality of Event Culinair is “concept” catering, where food, drinks, styling, and more are entirely tailored to the concept of the event. Think of colour themes, film themes, green concepts, a “farm to table” theme with local suppliers, a location-specific theme, a food festival. You name it.
Maison van den Boer
Maison van den Boer caters to countless private, corporate, and public events. In addition, they provide year-round hospitality at various permanent venues. With a full-service approach, they take care of every detail to perfection for every event, anytime, anywhere.
The Food Line-Up
The Food Line-Up makes sustainable choices more delicious and accessible. With a network of 100+ food specialists, they offer a menu that is always local and sustainable. From food trucks to five-course dinners, they always deliver something amazingly delicious.
Hete Peper
Hete Peper is the culinary director of your event. They tell stories through food and serve messages on a plate. Meet the creative caterer who brings your story to the table. Sometimes spicy, always thought-provoking.
An event at Westergas guarantees a full experience. Our venues are located in the heart of Westergas, right in the centre of Amsterdam, surrounded by the green Westerpark. The site is home to a wide range of restaurants where visitors can enjoy a delicious meal. A fresh sandwich or quiche at De Bakkerswinkel, French dining at Cantine de Caron, a pot of mussels at Mossel & Gin, or a bite with a view of the Gashouder at WestWeelde. You name it, we’ve got it.
Sleeping at Westergas
At Westergas you’ll find one of the most sustainable hotels in the Netherlands: the Conscious Hotel Westerpark. Unwind after your visit in one of its 89 spacious rooms. For more information about your stay, visit the hotel’s website. Within a 2 km radius, you’ll also find several other hotels, such as Hotel ibis Amsterdam City West.
Westergas B.V. is B Corp certified. This is an expression of our commitment to having a positive impact on the city, the neighbourhood, our employees and the environment. For example, we work mainly with local and sustainable partners for catering, cleaning, audiovisual and waste management services. Our fantastic partners and programming bring art and culture to visitors from home and abroad.
The Gashouder is a shining example of how we achieve our ambitions in practice. In 2022, the Gashouder switched from gas to solar panels. Over 1200 solar panels have been installed, which generate most of their own energy and that of the neighbourhood. Along with energy conservation, we are also committed to reducing CO₂ emissions. Every year, we make a calculation of our building and mobility emissions. We purchase 100% green electricity, which means our CO₂ emissions are relatively low. A concrete implementation plan is in place for the coming years to make the listed buildings, events and organisation even more sustainable.
