About the Gashouder

Since early 2025, the Gashouder has been under renovation. A new underground floor is being built to accommodate all facilities for large-scale events. These include an entrance area for visitation, cloakroom, dressing rooms and production area. The basement will make organising an event in the Gashouder much more efficient. The renovation will take approximately until Q4, 2026. Read more about the renovation here. Curious about the options after the reopening? Contact us now!

When you think of Westergas, you think of the Gashouder, they are inextricably linked. The Gashouder could claim to be the most exceptional event venue at the very heart of Amsterdam. Deserving of the status of the Pride of Westergas, this behemoth made its name internationally as a destination venue for music festivals, concerts, conferences, exhibitions and other events.

Plan your next big event in the iconic, round Gashouder, one of Amsterdam’s grandest, historic event venues with a raw, industrial vibe.

The original, industrial features of the inner space of the former storage tank, combined with a surface area of 2500 m² and an impressive height of 14.5 meters, make the Gashouder a majestic backdrop for a variety of events including fairs, seminars and conferences, awards ceremonies, and live shows. It manifests a certain grandness, you won’t experience anywhere else in Amsterdam.

The Gashouder has an impressive track record as a music venue, conference centre and party location. Events that took place here include:

  • Awakenings (dance event)
  • The Next Web (tech fair)
  • Unseen (contemporary photography fair)
  • Het Holland Festival (for international performing arts).
  • Aria (television program)

Westergas as venue/partner location

Westergas has been a household name in Amsterdam for years. In 2018, the Westergasfabriek buildings were renamed Westergas. The same place, with new energy: Amsterdam’s Cultural Village. The seventeen historic buildings were each given a new purpose and are now home to creative businesses, events and festivals. Three of the seventeen listed buildings are leased out as event venues: De Wester, the Gashouder and the Meterhuisje. These venues host a wide range of both commercial and cultural events.
