    Directions

    • Where is Westergas located?

    Westergas is centrally located in Amsterdam, just 2 km from Central Station, in the West district. Sloterdijk train station is 4 km away, as such, the cultural village is easily accessible from several parts of the city.

    • How can I get to Westergas?

    We encourage visitors to come by bike or public transport. As the Westergas site is car-free, these are not only sustainable choices, but also practical ones. Visitors are not allowed to drive onto the site in their own cars. Loading and unloading a vehicle is allowed.

    • Getting there by bike

    Cultural Village Westergas is easy to reach (10 minutes from Amsterdam CS station) and there are plenty of places to park your bike.

    • Getting there by car
      • From the A10 ring road: take the S103/S104 (Haarlem) exit and head towards thecity centre (‘Centrum’) via the Haarlemmerweg. You will find Westergas on the left.
      • From Schiphol: take the A4 towards Amsterdam (A10 ring road) and take exit S103 via Haarlemmerweg towards the city centre (‘Centrum’). You will find Westergas on the left.
    • Getting there by public transport
      • Bus 21 from Amsterdam CS station, bus stop Van Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek
      • Tram 19 towards Van Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek
      • Bus 22 from Amsterdam Sloterdijk station, bus stop Assendelftstraat
      • At night, bus N83 runs between Amsterdam CS station and the Van Limburg Stirumstraat stop
    • Where can I park?
      • Q-Park: Reserve a parking spot at an attractive rate with Q-Park. It is convenient and provides an alternative for visitors who travel by car. Click here for more information or here for a tailored private event.
      • Mobian: Mobian offers flexible Park & Ride solutions that combine parking with easy access to (e-)bikes, taxis or public transport for a smooth journey to popular destinations. You also support the Westergas Foundation when you park your car at Q-Park via Mobian. Use this link to reserve a parking spot at Q-Park Westergas.
    • Are there charging stations for electric cars in the car parks?

    Yes, a number of charging stations are available in the area around Westergas. Q-Park Westergasfabriek car park has six charging stations, Willemspoort has twelve, Q-Park Bos en Lommer has four, and P+R Sloterdijk has one.

    • Can you park a passenger van on the site? 

    This is not possible. Group buses can pick people up and drop them off at the Van Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek bus stop. However, buses cannot stay here, and there is only room for one bus at a time.
    Please note that parking is not allowed here. For special arrangements or to obtain a permit, please get in touch with your account manager.

    • What options are offered for taxis?

    A taxi-loop can be arranged. Should you require this, this can be discussed with one of our account managers leading up to the event.

    Accessibility

    • Is the park open 24 hours?

    Yes, Cultural District Westergas is open day and night.

    • Is Westergas a public park?

    Yes, both Westergas and the neighbouring Westerpark are open to the public. You can visit the park all year round to enjoy the greenery, culture and activities. Whether you come for a walk, a bike ride, or to attend an event, you are always welcome.

    • Disabled access

    The Gashouder, De Wester and Meterhuisje are wheelchair accessible, it varies per event whether it is wheelchair accessible.
    Special parking spaces for the disabled are available on the Westergas site, the gate staff coordinate these. If you have a valid disability card, you can go to the gate staff at the main entrance. They will be happy to help you find a good parking spot. This is how we work together to make your visit to Westergas a worry-free experience.

    Venue hire & Opportunities

    From fashion shows to MMA and from company parties to art fairs. A wide range of things are possible at Westergas. Contact our account managers to discuss possibilities for your event.

      • De Wester: Suitable for both large and small events, such as a video presentation or dinner. The large windows provide plenty of daylight.
      • Gashouder: An iconic space, great for hosting major events.
      • Meterhuisje: The Meterhuisje is intended for long-term rental for a minimum of one month. This makes it an ideal place for pop-ups and intimate events. (Leased until the end of 2026)
    • Can I visit the location?

    Yes, this is certainly possible. Please email our account managers to make an appointment: events@westergas.nl. Are there

    • Any venues available for longer-term rental periods?

    The Meterhuisje is available to rent for a minimum of one month. In addition, there are ‘fixed locations’ on the grounds for long-term rentals. In case you want to permanently stay with your business on the Westergas grounds, there are a number of permanent locations available for rent.
    Are there any facilities at the venues?

    The venues are delivered casco, but do offer several basic facilities:

      • De Wester provides restrooms, a backstage area and a basic tech set.
      • The Gashouder has an entrance, restrooms, backstage area, basic LED lighting, and air handling units.
    Site rules
    • Can I use the outdoor area during my event?

    In some cases, this is possible. However, there are some conditions for this. This can be discussed in the run-up to the event with one of our account managers or location managers.

    • Can I take photos in the outdoor areas of the park?

    Photography for personal use is permitted in the outdoor areas of the park. Commercial use is not allowed. The indoor venues are not available for private photo shoots but can be hired for corporate film and photo shoots

    Accommodation

    • Can I spend the night at Westergas?

    Believe it or not, but even that is possible at Westergas. Across from the big grass field, you’ll find the beautiful Conscious Hotel where you can reminisce on your visit to Westergas in a spacious hotel room. The hotel has 89 rooms. Visit the website here for more information. Besides the Conscious Hotel, there are numerous other hotels within a radius of 2 km. For example, Hotel ibis Amsterdam City West.

    Food & Drinks

    • Are there places to eat and drink on the site?

    You certainly can. Westergas has more than nine restaurants in the Cultural District. A delicious sandwich or quiche at the Bakkerswinkel, French cuisine at Cantine de Caron, typical Dutch mussels at Mossel & Gin. You can also enjoy lunch or dinner with a view of the Gashouder at Westergasterras. You name it, we got it. Check out all the restaurants here and don’t hesitate to make a reservation right away.

    • Can I bring my own refreshments?

    Yes, you can! You can walk around and enjoy your own food and drinks. Although you are not allowed to drink or eat these in the cafes and restaurants or in the Gashouder during an event. Fortunately, there are plenty of great places to eat and drink if you prefer.

    • Is smoking allowed on the site?

    Smoking is not allowed inside Westergas venues, such as the Gashouder and De Wester. Smoking is allowed on the grounds. Special ‘Peukenzee’ receptacles for cigarette butts have been installed for this purpose, spread across the grounds. They provide a safe and convenient place to dispose of cigarettes so that together we can do our bit to create a cleaner environment.

    • Are options available for people with special dietary requirements?

    Yes, there are definitely options available to accommodate special dietary needs. For events, you can let the caterer or organisation know in advance so that suitable options, such as vegetarian, vegan or allergen-free dishes, can be provided.

    Security & Policy
    • What security measures are in place on the site?

    At Westergas, we take your safety seriously. Our site is equipped with 24/7 security. A doorman is present 24/7 at the entrance to the park near the Westergas bridge. There are security cameras at the park as well.

    • What is the policy regarding lost items?

    Lost items are managed by the organiser of the event you are attending. Westergas is not responsible or liable for this. We recommend that you contact the event organiser for further assistance in recovering your lost items. Westergas itself does not collect any lost items.

    • Is there a wardrobe/are locker available?

    This varies depending on which venue in the Cultural Village of Amsterdam you are visiting. When attending an event, though, there is quite often the option to leave your belongings behind safely and enjoy what Westergas has to offer.

    Sustainability
    • What sustainability initiatives is Westergas working on?

    Westergas is committed to sustainability with a number of initiatives, such as using green energy, minimising waste and promoting sustainable mobility. We work closely with local businesses and partners who are very committed to sustainability.

    • How do you facilitate green events?

    We work with sustainable caterers and use Oscar Circular for the disposal of waste.

    • How does Westergas handle waste management?

    Westergas has a strict waste management policy which includes separating waste, recycling programmes and reducing waste streams. We work with partners who manage waste in a sustainable way and reuse it wherever possible.

    • How is energy consumption minimised?

    We use energy-efficient LED lighting and work with energy management systems to minimise consumption at our sites. We also use green energy sources to reduce our environmental impact.

    • What does the B Corp certificate mean for Westergas?

    Westergas has been officially B Corp certified since the summer of 2024! This certification is awarded to companies that meet high standards in the areas of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
