Radio station RRFM and nightclub Radio Radio, in collaboration with the Westergas Foundation, are launching a talent development program for young people in Amsterdam: RRFM Academy. This intensive program is designed for individuals aged 18 to 27 who want to learn DJing or music production, with priority given to FLINTA*-individuals and people from diverse backgrounds.
Registrations for the first semester are now open.
For six years, Radio Radio has been a central hub in Amsterdam’s electronic music scene with its nightclub at Westergas and community radio station RRFM. Well-known, experienced, and emerging DJs from Amsterdam and surrounding areas regularly visit for radio shows or club performances. RRFM has proven to be a launchpad for talented DJs, who often receive bookings at clubs and festivals after sharing snippets of their shows.
In 2025, RRFM and Radio Radio, in collaboration with the Westergas Foundation and AFK, are launching a new initiative: RRFM Academy. This talent development program, based in Cultuurdorp Westergas, provides young DJs and producers with the opportunity to further develop their skills within the electronic music scene.
This intensive, community-based program offers 18-to-27-year-olds the chance to grow as DJs or producers. Registrations for the first semester open on Thursday, March 6. Interested participants can sign up starting on this date via a first-come, first-served system, with priority given to FLINTA-individuals and people of color*.
The spring semester of RRFM Academy, running from April to June, offers three learning tracks which participants can choose from: Beginner DJing, Advanced DJing and Beginner Music Production.
Lessons will be taught by experienced DJs and producers who play a key role in the electronic music scene. In addition to structured courses, participants can choose from in-depth masterclasses, attend community nights to connect with fellow students, and join practice sessions with professional equipment in a supportive environment.
Participants will have the chance to follow a personalized learning path, fully immersed in Amsterdam’s electronic music scene. The program focuses on young talent, diversity, community, connection, and collaboration. Beyond strengthening the existing community, this initiative aims to nurture the next generation of artists and create opportunities within the music industry.
In the second semester, starting on September 1, 2025, will expand to include a music production course taught by French II & Alberta Balsam. More details, including registration dates, will be announced later.
The RRFM Foundation is partnering with the Westergas Foundation, which is committed to supporting talent and making arts & culture more accessible.

Westergas is the Cultural Village of Amsterdam, open day and night to anyone looking for new energy. At Westergas, we believe that art and culture should be accessible to everyone. That is why we established the Westergas Foundation, which is committed to supporting and funding arts and cultural initiatives in Amsterdam-West, focusing on talent development and making our programming more accessible.
Westergas Foundation aims to invest in initiatives where talent development is central, across various forms of art and culture. To support young talent and provide them with a platform, the Westergas Foundation also makes its venues and in-house expertise available for this collaboration with Stichting RRFM.
The AFK is the fund for and by the cultural capital of Amsterdam. With their mission “Fantastic art for all Amsterdammers,” they contribute to a city where everyone has the opportunity to practice or experience art. That is why they support all art forms in every district and neighborhood. The AFK is there for both professional art and cultural activities in leisure time—for established organizations as well as for the fringes and pioneers of the scene.
The AFK focuses its activities on three groups: artists and cultural organizations, Amsterdammers, and the sector as a whole. By sharing knowledge for and about the sector, they contribute to a strong and future-proof cultural landscape. The AFK is funded by the Municipality of Amsterdam.
